Date night in Vračar: a romantic evening in Belgrade
Belgrade doesn't do romance loudly — no gondolas, no Eiffel Tower. It does something better: unhurried evenings, warm light and streets built for walking side by side. Here's a date night in Vračar, the city's most atmospheric neighbourhood, all on foot.
7 PM — sunset at the Temple
Start at the Temple of Saint Sava as the light goes gold. The plateau around it is one of the few genuinely grand open spaces in the city — good for a slow loop and a first, unforced conversation. Inside, the mosaic dome is worth the ten minutes even if neither of you is religious.
8 PM — dinner around Kalenić
Walk north into the streets around Kalenić market. Vračar's bistros do modern Serbian and Mediterranean without fuss — book ahead on weekends. Keep it light; the evening is long.
10 PM — cocktails at Čin Čin
This is where we come in, and yes, we're biased. Čin Čin was built for exactly this hour: red velvet, low candlelight, a soundtrack that lets you hear each other. Order two things you've never tried — the Serbian Breakfast arrives under a cloud of smoke, the Midnight Pearls in an edible sphere you break together. It's theatre for two, at 850–990 RSD a glass. Midnight — a last rakija
If the night wants to keep going, end on a shared rakija — quince, sipped slowly. Then walk home through Vračar's quiet streets. That's the whole trick: Belgrade romance is just good company and nowhere you have to be.
