Belgrade in October: where to spend the long evenings
October is Belgrade at its most atmospheric. The summer heat is gone, the light turns gold in the late afternoon, and the evenings get long and cool — the kind of weather that sends everyone looking for a warm room, a good glass, and a table worth sitting at for hours. Here's how to spend those nights, with Vračar as your base.
The season has turned indoors
By October the terrace crowds have thinned and Belgrade has moved inside — into the small, warm-lit bars where the city does its best talking. Vračar, the leafy quarter around the Temple of Saint Sava, is built for exactly this: quiet streets, glowing windows, and rooms cosy enough that a cold night outside only makes them better.
What to drink in October
This is peak season for the richer end of the list. Orange wines — amber, textured, a little wild — come into their own against the first proper cold, and the reds get more serious: Serbian Kadarka, Chianti, a Barbaresco if the night calls for it. A perfect October evening in Vračar
Start after dark — the early sunset is part of the charm. Walk the streets around Kalenić market as the lights come on, then settle in somewhere warm before the night gets cold. No terrace to close, no one rushing you out; the whole point of October is that you get to stay.

October weekends in Vračar fill up now that everyone's indoors — Friday and Saturday especially.
